Book “Immortal. Ukrainian State Symbols in Folk Embroidery and Weaving”

Book “Netliiny””Ukrainian state symbols in folk embroidery and weaving” – this is an ethnographic photo album in which embroidered and woven exhibits featuring Ukrainian state symbols and their motifs were first published and described.During research expeditions, the public organization “World Embroidery Day” collected over 350 artifacts from the early‑mid‑20th century and presented about 200 of the most unique ones in the publication.Embroidery and woven items with the state symbols of this period have not only high aesthetic but also historical value.Most of them were created during the Soviet occupation and demonstrated cultural‑political resistance to the totalitarian system.The scientific analysis of the collected material was performed by experts from the Center for Folklore and Ethnography of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Philology at Kyiv National University named after Taras Shevchenko.
