“Horodok stitch” or “Horodok embroidery” is a unique type of traditional embroidery with a history spanning more than a century; it is common in the Lviv region, specifically in the town of Horodok and the surrounding villages (Kernitsa, Cherlyany, Uhry, Hodvyshnya, Artyshchiv, Drozdovychi, and others).
In July 2024, following a decision by the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine, the “Horodok stitch” embroidery technique was added to the National List of Elements of Ukraine’s Intangible Cultural Heritage. This is a very important step toward documenting, preserving, and passing on this heritage to future generations.
About Collaboration
The “Horodok Stitch” capsule collection was created in collaboration with the Horodok Museum of History and Local Lore. The designs are taken from the museum’s exhibition, which features antique shirts embroidered in the Gorodok style, as well as individual fragments of embroidery on scarves, bedspreads, and napkins.
