The dress’s pattern is reproduced from a shirt originating from the village of Kurylivka in the Dnipropetrovsk region. The original was created in the 19th century. The patterns feature predominantly floral and geometric motifs. The main elements of the embroidery are star-shaped flowers, leaves, and curlicues.
The artifact from which the ornament was reproduced is housed in the collection of the National Museum of Architecture and Life in Ukraine.
The vyshyvanka features machine embroidery that replicates traditional hand-embroidery techniques—cross-stitch and satin stitch.
