Men’s loose-fitting vyshyvanka from the “Nyzinka” collection.
The vyshyvanka features machine embroidery that replicates the hand-embroidery techniques of nizzu and cross-stitch.
The pattern on this shirt is based on an antique vyshyvanka from the 1940s, which originated in the Vyzhnytsia District of the Hutsul region. The original combined two techniques—cross-stitch and nizza—which was characteristic of this region.
The main part of the embroidery adorns the chest area of the shirt. The geometric composition consists of rounded star- and cross-shaped motifs—“kochil”—the “tree-in-a-pot” figure, which symbolizes the family lineage, as well as zoomorphic figures—birds facing each other, symbolizing love and fidelity. On the yoke of the vyshyvanka is a “svastya”—a symbol of harmony, happiness, and prosperity.
