Women’s embroidered dress from the collection “Skrynia”. The Osonnya embroidered dress is a reproduction of a traditional shirt from the Chernihiv region, in the Polissya ethnographic region. Date of creation: the 1940s.
The shirt’s shoulder panels are adorned with patterns of large flower buds, and the underarms are decorated with floral motifs. The ornamentation from the neckline and hem of the authentic vyshyvanka is stylized on the sleeves and waistband of this recreated dress.
This antique shirt is embroidered with a combination of red and black threads. In the interpretation by the designers at SVARGA, the embroidery features light pink, light green, yellow, and burgundy colors. The dress is midi-length. A belt is included. The traditional hand-embroidery technique of “slad” has been recreated using machine embroidery.
