The book “Timeless: Ukrainian National Symbols in Folk Embroidery and Weaving”

The book *Netlinni. Ukrainian State Symbols in Folk Embroidery and Weaving” is an ethnographic photo album that, for the first time, publishes and describes embroidered and woven artifacts featuring Ukrainian state symbols and their motifs. During research expeditions, the team from the nonprofit organization “World Embroidered shirt Day” collected over 350 artifacts from the early to mid-20th century; approximately 200 of the most unique pieces are featured in this publication.
Embroidered and woven items featuring the state symbols of this period hold not only high aesthetic value but also historical significance. Most of them were created during the Soviet occupation and served as a testament to cultural and political resistance against the totalitarian system. The collected material was scientifically analyzed by specialists from the Center for Folklore and Ethnography at the Educational and Scientific Institute of Philology of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.
