Women’s vyshyvanka from the collection “Embroidered Ukraine.”
The shirt fastens at the front with three pairs of tassels, which are spaced along the entire length of the placket. The cuffs fasten with buttons.
The pattern is inspired by a shirt from the village of Kolontai, Bohodukhiv District, Kharkiv Oblast. The sleeves of the vyshyvanka are decorated with vertical stripes of viburnum. The front panels are embroidered with oak leaves and acorns.
The pattern is based on an antique vyshyvanka from the early 20th century, which is part of the collection at the National Museum of Architecture and Life in Ukraine.
Hand-embroidery techniques are recreated using machine embroidery.
