Women’s loose-fitting vyshyvanka From the “Nizynka” collection.
The vyshyvanka features machine embroidery that replicates the hand-embroidery techniques of nizzu and cross-stitch.
The pattern on this shirt is based on an antique vyshyvanka from the 1940s, which originated in the Vyzhnytsia District of the Hutsul region. The original combined two techniques—cross-stitch and nizza—which were characteristic of this region.
This women’s shirt features embroidery on the chest and sleeves. The sleeves are adorned with “kochila” motifs—rounded star and cross shapes—as well as “potted tree” figures, which symbolize family lineage, as well as zoomorphic figures—birds facing each other, symbolizing love and fidelity.
The vyshyvanka features a decorative seam that runs along the perimeter of the shirt’s sleeves. It is considered a talisman for the person who wears it.
