Embroidered dress made of “Luhanshchyna” capsules, created in collaboration with the NGO “World Embroidered shirt Day.”
The pattern is inspired by an embroidered shirt from the early 20th century from the village of Makartetyne in the Novopskov District of Luhansk Oblast.
Traditionally, vyshyvankas from the Luhansk region feature a combination of several techniques used simultaneously. On this embroidered dress, machine embroidery is used to recreate hand-embroidery techniques: cross-stitch, shelyazhok, and shtapivka.
The exhibit, which serves as the inspiration for the embroidery, is included For the book “Embroidered Shirts of Luhansk Region”, which showcases a unique collection of artifacts from the Luhansk region that are part of the National Museum of Architecture and Life in Ukraine’s collection.
