Women’s vyshyvanka from the collection “Embroidered Ukraine.”
The shirt fastens at the front with three pairs of tassels, which are arranged along the entire length of the placket. The cuffs fasten with buttons. The pattern originates from a shirt from the village of Kolontaiv, Bohodukhiv District, Kharkiv Oblast. The sleeves of the vyshyvanka are decorated with vertical stripes of viburnum. The front panels are embroidered with oak leaves and acorns. The pattern is reproduced from an antique embroidered shirt from the early 20th century, which is preserved in the collection of the National Museum of Architecture and Life in Ukraine. The hand-embroidery technique has been reproduced using machine embroidery.
