Horodok Stitch: A Family Clothing Collection
The “Skrynia” Collection
Looking for designs for the collection “Embroidered Ukraine”The SVARGA team delved deeply into the vastness of Ukrainian culture and discovered a wealth of personal, family, and folk stories that have intertwined in the creation of Ukrainian embroidered clothing. It is important to us to foster unity, integrity, and self-sufficiency in Ukraine.
Inspired by the results of our research, we realized that we had to share them with the Ukrainian fashion and media communities. That’s how “Skrynia” Collection.

“Skrynia” – This is a journey into each individual region through smaller towns, villages, farmsteads, and, ultimately, through every single family. The collection was also inspired by the idea of recreating the vyshyvanka worn by the brand founder’s great-grandmother, which has already been presented under the name “Spadok”.
The new collection is named after a traditional element of ancient Ukrainian life. The chest has always been a place to preserve each family’s heritage and valuables. The memories of SVARGA founder Natalia Yarysh are also tied to her grandmother’s chest. As a little girl, despite being told not to, Natalia would rummage through the clothes inside, examine the details, and lose herself in these patterns. And these childhood memories cannot be erased; they remain in her memory for a lifetime, shaping her personal priorities, forming her worldview, and instilling a love for Ukrainian embroidery.
While working with heirlooms—both family heirlooms and folk artifacts—we realized that we could not only preserve the patterns by recreating them on new shirts, but also preserve antique vyshyvankas ourselves as museum exhibits. So we began purchasing authentic embroidered shirts from small private collections, and as a result, we opened the SVARGA Museum. It is there that we now preserve the valuable artifacts from our research, which we display in public exhibitions.

The “Skrynia” Collection It creates a connection to the strength of our heritage and calls on every Ukrainian to preserve their own legacy. After all, many still have their own “chests”—whether metaphorical or literal—at home, at their parents’ house, or in their grandmother’s home. Despite all the repression against Ukrainian culture, we preserve and protect our heritage. For some, this heritage lives on in their memories; for others, in photographs or documents; and for still others, in the stitches of embroidery. And the more of our Ukrainian heritage that remains amid the smoldering ruins of our history, the more passionately we defend and revive our native culture.
The SVARGA brand states that its mission is “Skrynia” Collection – To preserve authentic patterns and recreate their embroidery in a modern context while maintaining their sacred meanings. We present these antique designs so that anyone interested in seeing the originals can trace the transformation of the shirt they’ve purchased.

SVARGA takes a conscious civic stance and calls on every Ukrainian to preserve their heritage. After all, through our small actions, we all influence the shaping of Ukrainian society and culture, as well as the future development of our country.
Let’s remember our roots!
